Our goal is to educate and engage the student body to take action toward a more sustainable future. We hope to do this through creating a more green Spring Concert. Through targeting specific areas such as composting and recycling and introducing carbon offset initiatives, we hope to produce real

and measurable changes.

The Current Situation

Concerts are notorious for their environmental impact. From the transportation of the crew, to the food, to the disposable water bottles, to energy used to fuel the event - concerts have an enormous footprint. For example, the Radiohead's amphitheatre tour emitted nearly 10,000 tons of CO2 into the environment. And, while you may be thinking that our Wofford Live Concert is not nearly as large - there is always progress to be made and measurable steps that we can take to make a difference!

How we can change this
  • By incorporating some new products, such as compostable paper products for the local vendors and setting up a manageable recycling program, we can reduce our waste.

  • By reducing the paper products used for advertising, we can green our marketing techniques.

  • By providing the band with recommendations of and access to local food and restaurants, we can support our local economy and provide the bands with a true taste of Spartanburg.

  • By purchasing carbon offsets, we can raise awareness of our impact and help promote additional efforts to reduce emissions.

Who is helping us

We've partnered with Wofford Live to bring you the Wofford's first green concert. Wofford doesn't have a Sustainability Department, but we do have numerous student interest groups and organizations on campus dedicated to making this event a success. Check back for updates and please contact us if you or your organization would like to help!
